Earl Rhodes Long-Time Kiwanian
Earl Rhodes, life member and past Lt. Governor
of Kiwanis International, passed away Thursday morning. Earl
was a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of Richmond and was
a retired real estate broker.
When Earl recently married Helen
Rhodes, he made sure that Helen joined Kiwanis and accompanied
him to Kiwanis meetings. Both had perfect attendance at Kiwanis
meetings. Helen subsequently persuaded her daughter,Vicki Whitaker
an employee in logistics and purchasing at Sherwin-Williams Paint
Manufacturing company to join Kiwanis.
Earl's visitation and funeral will
be held at the Turpin Funeral Home, 237 N. Second St in Richmond.
Visitation will be from Noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 29
and the funeral will begin at 2 p.m.
Donate $6,000 Toward Kiwanis Football Field
The Kiwanis Club of Richmond donated $6,000 toward
the development of the Kiwanis Football Field to be located in
Reba Recreational Complex, a City
of Richmond Parks and Recreation facility off of Gibson
Bay Drive in Richmond. The funds will be used to help prepare
the football field and the bleachers for that field. David
Harkleroad (right), President of the Kiwanis Club of Richmond
presented a $6,000 check to the Richmond Youth
Football and Cheerleading League for the development of
the field. Recipients of the check were the Richmond Youth Football
and Cheerleading League leaders (left to right) Chuck Hardin,
Vice President; Darrin Slone, President; and Keith Long,
Treasurer. The Kiwanis Club of Richmond focuses its philanthropic
work on supporting youth in the Richmond/Madison County community.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing
the world one child and one community at a time.
