Richmond Kiwanis Club President Bob Lilly (left) introduced members of the Marshall Elementary School Archery Team and their coach to tell about their program to the Club on Tuesday, June 30. Kendra Sewell (right), the Marshall School Archery Team coach and physical education teacher, thanked the Kiwanis club for their financial support in helping purchase bows and arrows to get their program started two years ago. She also made an appeal for support of the team to go to their first world tournament, to be held in Orlando, Florida. The world competition will include teams from the U.S., New Zealand, and Australia. Those in the photo (l. to r.) are Lilly, Emily Jones, Courtney Patton, and Sewell.

Their team shirts (left) which proclaim that they are from Marshall School on the front and that "We've got group" on the reverse. The girls demonstrate their shooting stance as part of the descriptive program. The overall team record was first in the local Snowball competition, first in the regional competition, 10th in the state competition, and 36th in the national competition.
Emily Jones, in the foreground, placed fifth in the state competition held in Louisville, first in regional competition held in Jessamine County, and second at the Snowball local competition sponsored by the Telford YMCA. Courtney Patton, in the background, placed sixth in the regional competition and third at the Snowball competition.
Colonel (ret) Jack Bisping (left), a long-time Kiwanian, checks the grouping of arrows in the target after the demonstration. He observed that the 24 boys and girls team shoot for competition in doors which accounts for the grouping on this particularly windy day. The girls (right) are observed by Coach Sewell during the demonstration for the Kiwanis Club members.
