Mashall Elementary School Archery Program

Richmond Kiwanis Club President Bob Lilly (left) introduced members of the Marshall Elementary School Archery Team and their coach to tell about their program to the Club on Tuesday, June 30. Kendra Sewell (right), the Marshall School Archery Team coach and physical education teacher, thanked the Kiwanis club for their financial support in helping purchase bows and arrows to get their program started two years ago. She also made an appeal for support of the team to go to their first world tournament, to be held in Orlando, Florida. The world competition will include teams from the U.S., New Zealand, and Australia. Those in the photo (l. to r.) are Lilly, Emily Jones, Courtney Patton, and Sewell.

Emily Borgmeier Recieves $500 scholarship

Emily Borgmeier, the recipient of a $500 scholarship from the Kiwanis Club of Richmond, addresses the Kiwanis Club members about her future plans.


Emily Borgmeier is the recipient of a $500 scholarship awarded by the Kiwanis Club of Richmond. Emily, a graduate of Model School will be attending Western Kentucky University in the Fall majoring in Marketing with an emphasis in Sales.

While at Model School Emily participated in Varsity Soccer, Varsity Cheerleading, and Varsity Softball.

Emily was also involved in a variety of extra curricular activities. She was the Yearbook Editor for two years, she was a member of National Honor Society where she served as secretary during her senior year.

She was also a member of Pep Club all four years serving as Treasurer, during her junior tear and as Vice President, during her senior Year.

Emily servied as a volunteer at First Baptist Church for the primary students.

Emily currently works at Classy Chassy Car Wash & Schiller Architectural Hardware in Lexington.

Emily has traveled to Europe with a small group from Model School in the Summer of 2006 where she visited six different countries in 17 days.

Emily and her mother attended the Kiwanis Club of Richmond to receive her scholarship check and to address the club regarding her future.

Kiwanis will also provide a $500 scholarship to a student at Madison Central High School and the George Brown Key Club $500 scholarship to an outstanding Key Club member at Model High School.
